Joseph Gissy

Vice President · Ivanhoe Estates Homeowners Association

Joseph and his family have called Ivanhoe Estates home since 2020. He serves as Vice President of the HOA with a focus on resident communication, the community website, Architectural Review and the Social Committee.

More than anything, he enjoys finding ways to help neighbors know one another, stay informed and feel more connected to the community they call home.

About Joseph

Family brought us back to the Midwest.

Ivanhoe Resident Since 2020 Joseph and his family moved to Ivanhoe Estates in August 2020 after relocating from California.

Joseph spent about 15 years living in California before he and his wife, Kristina, decided it was time to move closer to family and find a place where they could put down roots. Joseph is originally from St. Louis, while Kristina is from Racine, Wisconsin, so Northern Illinois offered a great middle ground.

They were married in France at a château, and today their adventures look a little different with their son, Christian, along for the ride. As a family, they enjoy traveling, staying active and spending time together.

Professionally, Joseph works in financial services, technology and marketing, experience that has naturally carried over into several of the communication and technology projects he has worked on for Ivanhoe.

A Little More Personal

Home is really about the people in it.

One of the reasons Joseph and Kristina chose to return to the Midwest was to build their life closer to family. Travel is still a big part of what they enjoy — including a destination wedding at a château in France — but Ivanhoe is now home.

Outside the Board

HYROX, DEKA & a little friendly competition.

Fitness and competition have become a big part of Joseph's life. Over the past several years, he has competed in HYROX Chicago both individually and as part of a team, combining running with functional fitness events that test strength, endurance and plenty of determination.

What started as another way to stay active has turned into something Joseph looks forward to training for and competing in with teammates and friends.

A neighborhood should feel like a community.

Joseph joined the HOA Board when the Association asked for residents interested in getting more involved. It was an opportunity to contribute some of his professional experience while also getting to know more of his neighbors.

Much of his focus has been on improving communication, building the new Ivanhoe website and resident resources, and creating more opportunities for neighbors to interact.

Having previously lived in a close-knit neighborhood where residents knew one another and regularly spent time together, he'd like to help foster more of that same connection here at Ivanhoe.

A Few More Things

When he's not at an HOA meeting...

Family, travel and cars tend to fill whatever time isn't already claimed by work, training and Ivanhoe.

Joseph enjoys spending time with Kristina and Christian, whether that's around home, exploring somewhere new or heading out on another family adventure.

Joseph and Kristina enjoy traveling throughout the United States and Europe and share an interest in cars and automotive culture.

Around Ivanhoe

One of Joseph's favorite local activities is simply walking through Ivanhoe and enjoying the homes, landscaping and natural character of the neighborhood.
